The  TOURIST CARD  is a tax charged by the Dominican Republic to those who visit our country. The Tourist Card fee is included in the air ticket.

If you want to travel to the Dominican Republic for tourism, and you are a , a tourist visa is NOT required. It is sufficient to have a passport valid for at least six months from the date of travel.

  1. All nationals of countries with a valid visa or residence card from the European Union, the United States of America, Canada or Great Britain, can enter the national territory of the Dominican Republic with the simple presentation of the Tourist Card. (Decree 691-07 dated December 18, 2007).
  2. All foreigners who enter the Dominican Republic, whether with a visa or tourist card, must be provided with their valid passport, with minimum validity and maintain its validity during the stay and exit from the Dominican territory.
  3. All foreigners who wish to enter the Dominican Republic for business matters must apply for a Business Visa, simple or multiple, in the consular missions of the Dominican Republic abroad, despite being included in the list of countries that can enter with a tourist card, since the latter can only be used for tourist purposes exclusively. Business visas will be granted by the Dominican Consulates in accordance with the provisions contained in Resolution No. 01-08 , dated February 7, 2008 of MIREX.
  4. Visa applications will be received and authorized exclusively by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the current mechanisms, restrictions and procedures established by the Vice Minister for Consular and Migratory Affairs.
  5. In case a person needs a visa and there is no Dominican Consulate in the country where they are, they should go to the nearest country’s Consulate.
  6. In case a person wants to extend their visit while they are in the Dominican Republic, they can go through the offices of the General Directorate of Migration and request an extension, applicable for one time.
